A Bit More Dish

From Tiffalish of UnScene Chicago : " Show your opposition to this homophobic, bigoted, and mean-spirited bill to amend the Constitution " You need to read it and oppose it. To say it's offensive is a compliment. What year is it? Oh, right, 2008. In case you're worried about what God thinks, believe me, God created homosexuals and heterosexuals equally. It is about time America woman up and man up, and get with the God damned program. Astonishing Adventures Magazine is now officially in print and available on Amazon! Run. Read. Now. Mazel Tov, Lewch, Tim and Katherine. Excellent job, yo. This read is pulp heaven. When pitching yourself for a job raising someone else's children, you might not want to use an email address that reads: "leather" and "nanny" before @. Just a thought. Did you read about the Air force Chief that Resigned ? " Gates said his decision was based mainly on the damning conclusions of an internal report on the mistake...

AAM Interview Part Three with Tim Gallagher

Image
AAM Interview Part Three with the lovely Tim Gallagher. While Tim might be afraid of Big Foot, the boy knows his BF history like nobody's business and goes into hilarious detail about it. If you have any additional Q's for the child, leave them in comments and he will be most pleased to answer them. Of course I'm speculating and assuming. I think it's safe to do so. He's super menschy and one hell of a pulp aficionado like his colleagues, John and Katherine, with his own unique twist on the genre and why AAM means so much to him. He's a fascinating fellah to dish with and wicked smart! I think you will love him hard after reading his interview! Meet Tim Gallagher KATIE: Why are you afraid of Bigfoot? Spill. TIM: I suppose my fear of Bigfoot really goes back to my younger days in the early 20th century when I was frightened of gorillas. Not real gorillas, mind you, though sometimes when they glared they could be scary, but actors in bad gorilla costumes. I'm...

The Astonishing Adventures Magazine Interview Part One

Image
Astonishing Adventures Magazine : Pulp Fiction by today’s brightest up and coming writers and established pulp authors. Edited and published by John Carlucci, Katherine Tomlinson and Tim Gallagher. I have spent the past week dishing with these three about their love of pulp and how Astonishing Adventures (AAM) came to be. These pulparoonies are fucking fabulous. They're smart, passionate, driven like nobody's business and insanely articulate. I had such a blast going back and forth with each writer. I've known John for ages and adore the child. I'm crushing hard on Katherine, we've become instabuds. Tim and I are hitting our stride, too. Because they've offered up such distinctive points of view and well thought out answers, I wanted each to be featured, so we can savor their words in three parts. Today, we're dishing with John Donald Carlucci. We know him from Wildwoods , his blog and as Editor JDC for AAM. When you start talking to him about pulp, the orig...

Dish and That

Image
Astonishing Adventures Magazine was plugged in Bookgasam ! Congratulations, beautiful babies... Which reminds me I will be interviewing the brains behind AAM this week. Check back on Wednesday for all the dish. I had dinner with one of my bestest friends in the woild tonight in from NY. He made my day. I'm writing a new project, a huge departure from comedy, so there's that. Dished with pops-- he's doing great. Still owe Quinny an email. I've re-read it a few times. That dame is so sagey. If you haven't read her blog, you must. Frannylish's post about Gifts of Healing, Consolation and Peace is quite riveting. Check it out, I was inspired. Long day, though a good one. Email mishigas like you don't know. That's my daily report. More dish later... Good dish and awwwwl XOXOXOX Katie

I'm wildly in love with this image. I found it on Abduzeedo . It's so vinty dream , isn't it?! What a fuckin' week. I didn't know where to throw myself. By Tuesday, fucking Tuesday (do you believe?!), bridges seemed doable. I felt like someone was living up my ass and building cities with overcrowded highways filled with speeding drivers. I'm so glad it's over. My new website is up. HOWEVER, I'm trying to get a fly designer to give it a jhush. Will keep yas posted and give yas the URL when it's bettah. Lewchie sent me the cover for AAM edition three last week and it is so fucking hot and sexy, it took my wig off, yo. Here's the dish on the third installment, it's going to be off the mothah' fuckin' hook.

Lewchie's Meme of Regrets

Image
Editor JDC of Astonishing Adventures Magazine has meemed me. WAIT. You've purchased the second copy of AAM, yes? You haven't?! Go, right now and get yourself a copy. It's SIGNED. Buy a copy and come back. Lewch created a personal meme called " 5 Things you regret and 5 things you don't ." You have to read his. It's so honest. Oy, that boy just doesn't hold back. I'm hoping he moves into some non-fiction action. Anywho. He tagged Writer Procrastinator , Madam Z , Ms. Guth , Dale and Jewgirl. Here's the dish: "You’ve just learned that tomorrow you will die at sunrise. Tell me the five things you regret and the five things you don’t regret." I actually try very hard not to have regrets. One of my favorite singers Beth Orton wrote this beautiful song called the Sweestest Decline . One of the lyrics is something that I repeat often and try to live by, "What are regrets? They're just lessons we haven't learned yet." Ka...
