I just came over to your blog for the first time (saw your link on Politits) and I am sitting here in a puddle of tears over your dog. I completely understand how you feel; we lost our dog Alice two years ago to a horrible cancer that seemed to come on practically overnight (it had spread all over her lungs before we even knew she was sick). Two weeks later we had to make the same decision you did, to let her go, as we couldn't see her suffer. I wanted to die. It happened on July 1st, and the entire summer was over at that point. I remember nothing of it; we were too miserable. But time did help, and we got another dog whom we love dearly. She will never replace Alice but she has added her own place in our hearts. My thoughts and sympathies are with you as you go through this terrible time.
