Menses just commenced. It's 1:14 AM. I was asleep. That felt good. At 12:24, I popped up. I think I'm awake, maybe awakeish is more accurate. I'm always surprised when those handy-soapy-foamy-bottles run out of soap. For some lame ass reason, it never occurs to me that they ever will. They feel so lifetime supply , even though the bottles aren't more than 8 inches tall. Similarly, when I flip on a light switch and the light flickers to its death, I think "Now what?" Duh, schmuckette, you change the fucking light bulb . Intellectually, I know this, yet for some odd reason, it never comes to mind. In fact, a few years ago, my mother walked into my house and said, "Why aren't the lights working?" I said "I don't know, I flick the switch and they don't work." After a fit of uproarious laughter, she said, "Would it kill you to change the light bulb?” Hmmm. "No", I shamefully responded. I wonder why... it is that I hav...

I've been reading a lot of parenting and BF blogs because I do plan to BF and I'm all about the choice and blah blah blah...BUT I do find this weird.
I found another site with this video and there are a lot of interesting comments.
I love nudity, sex, boobies, whatever, and I don't think that BF is icky. The whole creep out factor on this is the kids ages.
If they were boys, would the mum still be doing this?
If BFing for 1 or 2 years is healthy and good, it doesn't necessarily mean that doing it for 5, 7 or 10 years is better.
And I guess it bugs me (again, I know it's not any of my business but they did put this damn video out for the world to see and judge) that this woman is STILL tied to the kids. I'm all for being supportive and nurturing but maybe this isn't helping the daughters?
It's certainly not about nutrition. It's about self soothing or comfort but can't that be given without BFing? And is it more for the mum too?
BTW, it's really time to cut the MF cord for her!
I got distracted by the video, damn you Katie!
I was just talking at work about someone breastfeeding a 3 year old. That's bad enough-- 5 and 7 is sick.
Now to clean yesterday's spaghetti off of Evil Spock's shoes.
Can't...fight...the...urge!
Give...me...strength!
Ahhhhhh!

Hmmmm.......
Bob, 35, still pops round his mum's flat for a biscuit and breastmilk everyday.
"Aw mum, couldn't you have shaved first?"

I just can't wrap my mind around a 7 year old still nursing. If a woman wants her children to self-wean, that's great. I know a few Moms who still occasionally bf their 3 year olds, and I'm fine with it--their choice/their body and all, BUT
I don't think a 7 year old should *need* the comfort of bf'ing. At 7 (or even 5), a child should start becoming autonomous creatures from their parents. Physical contact (hugs and snuggles) is important, but this goes beyond that. Can't she just hold her close?
Part of me thinks this more for the Mom than the kids. Can she see herself as something apart from being a Mother? Is *she* the one who doesn't want to let go?
I hope to J-dawg these kids are homeschooled.
I'm going to steal this and post it on a parenting board I belong to and see what some of them think.
I don't want to see this La Leche League horror film gone wrong, I think it will somehow warp me more than I already am...if that's possible.
JDC,
"Got milk Mom?"
Heh-heh-heh!
In all seriousness, that woman is suffering from a severe mental illness.
im a totally openminded person - but this pushed the boundaries even for me.
I have a 5 month old boy and i am exclusively breastfeedding him... but i think i'll go for the recommended dosage of 1 year thanks.... my sister in law still gives her 2 year old daughter a night feed. she did the same with her first son. i dont know. each to their own. but who is it for by this stage??
hmmmmmm????????????
How does that fuckin hag still have milk after 5 years??? Disgusting.
Ban breastfeeding!
