From My Cold Dead Hands...

... has died. His politics aside, I was very sorry that he died, especially of Alzheimer's.

Apes all over the world are mourning. I mean apes and not NRA, but your mileage may vary.

i must have watched "the 10 commandments" 1,000 times growing up. it made me proud to be a jew -- if we looked and acted like chuck heston, it meant we were ass-kicking sonsofbitches like moses, not weenies like the egyptian character played by edward g. robinson, an actor who actually turned out to be jewish.

and "ben-hur" (playing another jew!) and "touch of evil" (playing a mexican cop!) are two of my favorites. (not to mention, "get your hands off me, you damn dirty ape!" classic stuff).

though his gun politics were repulsive, i'm sorry he died, too. michael moore did bad by him, interviewing heston when he was so sick.
I have such mixed feelings about him, but I don't want to see anyone go out like this and while I didn't agree with his personal politics, I loved his acting when he didn't go too overboard.

I think he got Alzheimer's on purpose, so he could forget about his repulsive politics.

Katie,

I totally agree with you, doll. Very sad to see.

As for his politics, even Moses was forgiven for his mistakes.

My L.A.-based film friends love him, having seen him at film festivals and retrospectives. They said he was funny, charming, and self-deprecating.
